During this Summer Dan joined a team of 6 paramotor pilots to fly the long journey from Land End to John 'Groats. The Journey took 16 day, and covered more than 850 GPS miles, with more than 40 hours in the air. The weather was challenging, and many said that they'd never do it. Some pilots pulled out, and only 2 pilots managed to make the journey. We were the first recorded pilots to make this journey.
Dan was one of the survivors, and got to the end without any mishaps. To see some images, visit The Tip 2 Gallery.
The project was filmed using the Sony Z7, and Dan and Hot Ashes Productions are in the stages of producing an action packed 1 hr HD film.
The mission was a complete success, and we now planning to do more aerial adventures in the future .Watch this space.
Dan builds his own underwater housings,
and has designed housing for still cameras including the Nikon
D2x, Hasselblad Xpan, SWC, and video camera including
the Sony Z1. His cameras
have been used on numerous assignments, and been used to depths of in
excess of 200m.
He is a pioneer in high resolution
panoramic and spherical
underwater images and digital underwater photography starting
back in 2000.
In January 2008 Dan will be building
a housing for the new RED
HD. Watch this space for more details.

Test of new lens underwater
This is a test film using a 0.2 lens on the Sony HC1 camera. No awards to be had!
The lens was not designed to be used underwater, but behind a wide angle port it gives an amazing 180 degree view, wider than any maufacturers on the market produce.
Problems using this lens are as follows:
I had a few technical problems using this lens. The lens is silver, and needs to be painted black, as silver reflections can be seen in the glass port. Then I must Zoom in a bit to remover the cutoff, and lessen the vinyetting. I did zoom in, with out any cutoff showing in the viewfinder, but this didn't work enough. More work to be done.

We finally got to John O Groat on the 11th August 2008. After more than 800 GPS miles, and 40+ hours of flying. The trip took 16 days, and allot of hard work. We hit the worst possible weather you could imagine, but we got there tired, but the trip was well worth while. The trip started with 7 pilots, and myself as the cameraman, after 16 days, there was one pilots and myself..
We are now planning the next trip for next summer. Watch this space..
A special thanks to all the ground crew and other pilots for such a great adventure.
